The Colorado Springs job market may be moving towards improving signs of employment. A recent report indicates that the jobless rate in the city has fallen to the lowest level it has been at in more than two years. That information, from the month of November, could be the encouragement that many people who are looking for a job in Colorado Springs need. The report from the US Bureau of Labor Statistics came out on Wednesday.
What Does It Mean?
According to the report, the jobless rate for November fell to nine percent. That is down from 9.1 percent in the previous month. It is the lowest rate in the last 26 months for the area. The report also indicated that 1600 residents entered into the job market during the month. The number of unemployed workers in Colorado Springs fell by 400, which is the lowest level it has been at since March of 2009.
Does that mean that the economy is turning around and that we do not have to fear a second recession? Not just yet, some reports indicate. Rather, the economy is improving but at a very slow pace. There are still 28,000 Colorado Springs residents who are not working right now who want to be. That is still twice the number that were unemployed prior to 2007 and the start of the recession.
However, experts still remain positive. The economy is growing and employers are hiring. Though it may be slow, slow growth may be more stable growth.
